Aircraft maintenance in South Carolina

South Carolina has become a major aerospace manufacturing state, led by Boeing's large 787 Dreamliner final-assembly plant in North Charleston — one of only two Boeing widebody assembly sites in the country. That facility and its supplier network have made the Charleston region a fast-growing aerospace hub.

The state also hosts significant military aviation at Joint Base Charleston and Shaw AFB, plus general and business aviation across the Upstate around Greenville-Spartanburg. Wages run near the national median, and South Carolina's low cost of living makes the effective paycheck competitive.

South Carolina's Part 147 training runs through its technical college system, including Trident Technical College (Charleston) and Greenville Technical College. Most are VA-approved, and Trident's program was built in part to feed the Boeing complex.
