Aircraft maintenance in Indiana

Indiana's aviation maintenance sector centers on Indianapolis, home to a large FedEx Express regional hub — the airline's second-largest U.S. operation — plus the Indianapolis Maintenance Center, a major base-maintenance MRO facility. That combination gives central Indiana steady, high-volume demand for A&P mechanics.

The state also hosts significant aerospace manufacturing, including Rolls-Royce's large engine operations in Indianapolis, plus military aviation at Grissom Air Reserve Base and a network of suppliers. Wages run near the national median, and Indiana's low cost of living keeps effective take-home strong.

Indiana's Part 147 schools include Purdue University's well-regarded School of Aviation and Transportation Technology, Ivy Tech Community College, and Vincennes University. Most are VA-approved, and Purdue's program is one of the most prestigious university-level A&P paths in the country.
