Each employer has an entry-rate and a top-of-scale rate pulled directly from the salary article: cargo $60K → $155K, regional $45K → $95K, major airline $55K → $140K, and so on. Experience slides you along that ladder. The state field applies a dampened cost multiplier (60% of the raw deviation from the national median) — dampened on purpose, because FedEx pays the same in Memphis as in Newark, so a full state multiplier would double-count the contract scale. Inspection Authorization adds a flat $7K and only shows when the employer is set to General Aviation (per author note: IA is primarily a GA premium). Specialty adds 8%. Overtime and benefits stack on top for the total-comp view. The state list represents the ~20 states with meaningful deviation from the national median ($78,680 per BLS OEWS May 2024); everything unlisted defaults to 1.0×.
