A&P Mechanic Schools in Oklahoma

Oklahoma punches far above its size in aviation maintenance, thanks to two enormous anchors. Tinker Air Force Base near Oklahoma City is home to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex — one of the largest aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations in the world, employing thousands of civilian aircraft mechanics. Separately, the FAA's Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center in Oklahoma City is a national training and certification hub.

Tulsa adds a second major center: American Airlines operates its largest maintenance base there — the biggest commercial aircraft MRO facility in the world — plus a strong network of aerospace suppliers. Between Tinker, the FAA center, and American's Tulsa base, Oklahoma offers some of the most concentrated A&P demand per capita in the country, with a low cost of living that stretches paychecks well.

Oklahoma's Part 147 schools include strong technology-center programs (Metro Tech, Tulsa Tech, and the CareerTech network) plus Spartan College of Aeronautics in Tulsa, one of the oldest and best-known aviation schools in the country. Nearly all are VA-approved, and the state actively recruits transitioning military maintainers.
